Leigh Douglas Overland, Architect, AIA, NCARB

Mr. Overland received his Bachelor of Architecture from New York Institute of Technology, and studied at The American University in Rome, Italy.  A member of the American Institute of Architects, the Connecticut Society of Architects, & the Building Officials and Code Administrators, he is currently Chairman of the Danbury Architectural Advisory Committee and on the Board of the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce and the Founder and past president of Westport (BNI), a 60 member organization of professional Westport businesses.

Mr. Overland's architectural firm, established in 1980, is certified in the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and is able to practice nationally through the National Council of Architectural Registration Board. The firm designs many project types with the majority being commercial, religious and residential projects, with over 40 projects a year managed concurrently.  His philosophy of "Creativity isn't enough - communication between the architect, the clients, the consultants, and the builders is the key to good architecture" has served as a creative basis for his communicating architectural principles and values.  Mr. Overland's firm has the motto of "Good Design Doesn't Just Happen".

Mr. Overland has won several awards including one for his own home by the Westport Historic Preservation Trust.  He was also asked by ABC's Extreme Home Makeover - Home Addition to be the architect for the Connecticut home which aired October 14th, 2007.  Hundreds of residential alterations, additions, and new homes as well as recent commercial projects including Wells Fargo & David Lerner's Investment Regional Headquarters, Waterbury Federal Teachers Credit Union, Waterview, Candlewood & Riverview Banquet Facilities, Veterinary Hospitals, Health Spas, St. Elizabeth's Seton Church, and many well-known restaurants.  Leigh has been a leader in many civic and social organizations including being the youngest recipient  to receive the B'nai Brith Youth Service Award.  Leigh has donated his services and funds to countless non profit organizations, and has been published over 50 times in various newspapers and magazines.
