Community Helping Others - Got a Job? Last week I had the pleasure to meet Mohamed al Maassri, a Syrian Refugee who escaped the war with his family and landed in Norwalk 8 months ago. A group of 6 Churches and Synagogues have been helping him out. They even found him a job at Whole Foods. But sadly the pay and hours are not enough to sustain his family. He is a college graduate and owned a construction material import export business that he lost due to the war. I am hoping the Chamber community can help find him a better position. Please let me know if you have any ideas or a position for him. Click here to read an article about Mohamed

A Partnership Opportunity On Sunday, May 14 (Mother's Day) the Westport Library will be hosting New York Times bestselling author Colm Tóibín at Westport's Town Hall Auditorium where he will discuss his latest book, House of Names. Toibin's previous works include Nora Webster and Brooklyn which was made into an award-winning feature film in 2015. Because the event is on Mother's Day and we know many families will be out and about in town to celebrate, we would love to partner with your business to offer a special promotional deal to our patrons and your customers. For instance, if a customer were to show proof of purchase of the book and/or ticket to the event, they receive a complimentary or discounted beverage or dessert. Our partnership would be highlighted on our website, social media and in our Library's magazine. It will also be included with all other event publicity. If you are interested in partnering with us, please contact Jennifer Keller, programming coordinator, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Chamber News Hello Everyone and Happy New Year! This note is just a reminder that we will once again be publishing a new Visitor's Guide & Membership Directory for 2017. Please take a moment if you have not yet renewed your 2016 dues, and send us your payment which will ensure that you are included in the directory. This successful and informative guide is something you'll not only want to have on hand in your office, but it is a piece that you'll want to present to those you might visit or perhaps give to a prospective client. The chamber continues to offer programs that are of interest and importance to our members and to the business community at large, which is why your continuing support is needed! Please feel free to contact me at the chamber if you have any questions. Best regards, Linda Matthews Executive Assistant This email address is being protected from spambots.
